Emerald Green

Emerald is apparently THE color for 2013 and I am definitely OK with this decision. Good job Pantone! Here are a few emerald pics to make you green with envy!

Personal Style: Foxy Lady

So I came across this fox sweater at Old Navy and was quickly reminded of a picture of the one and only Taylor Swift wearing a similar sweater not so long ago. Taylor's sweater I'm sure is designer and very expensive. My fox sweater was on sale for $15 at Old Navy and that's about as much as I was wiling to shell out for a sweater with a fox on it. Don't get me wrong I really like it for a casual day at work paired with sparkly flats (not pictured). Sorry Tay, I win this one.

Personal Style: Holiday Party

Fur Vest: Vince Camuto (old), Sweater: Gap, Skinnies: Gap (old), Clutch: Mossimo, Heels: Mossimo

One of the most fun families I know hosted a fabulous holiday party over the weekend and this is what I wore. It was such a blast and so nice that pants were appropriate. I went with all black because I wanted my fun heels to pop. I added the fur vest, well, just because I love fur! My heels and clutch are both from Target and you would never know. In fact I had to tell people over and over again that my heels were from Target and $30. I would scoop up a pair of these cap toe cuties if I were you! How fun  is this tasseled clutch? Such an easy and party perfect outfit!

This weekend was full of wonderful friends and holiday fun! I love getting all dolled up every once in awhile. Happy Monday all!

Profile: The Rolling Stones

The Hubs and I recently watched  Crossfire Hurricane.  A new documentary on The Rolling Stones in honor of their 50th anniversary. It was one of the best things I've ever watched and so incredibly badass. Needless to say we are still talking about it two weeks later. It's truly amazing the influence they had then and continue to have now. Not just with their music, but with everything from how people dressed and wore their hair. Their personal style is off the charts. I'm most definitely not a music buff, just someone who loves The Rolling Stones and all things 60s and 70s. I would seriously do just about anything to go to one of the reunion concerts!

One of my favorite scenes in the film was back stage at MSG where Andy Warhol and Jimmy Hendrix were hanging out with them before their show. It just doesn't get much cooler than that. If you don't mind sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll you should check it out!

Dear Santa: Books

I've recently started obsessing over coffee table books. My husband has a much larger book collection than I do. Seriously, there's something wrong with this picture! I love all of his books (think Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, etc) and I love that we each have very specific interests and they go hand in hand. Here are my top four books on my wishlist. All wonderful additions to our table (weird coincidence that they are color coordinated). The Hubs has this book on his wishlist and I hope Santa brings it!!

Holiday: Gift Wrap

Thanks to Pinterest, Holiday gift wrap is going to be taken up a notch this year! There are so many cute options that I love. I really love the look of the brown parchment paper with either a letter or name prominently displayed on the front. Adding a cute ribbon is a nice touch. I'm torn between the simplicity of the options above and the cutesy looks below.  Those pom poms are an amazing substitution for a bow. My sister would love this! I'm ready to kick my wrapping into high gear!

The Perfect Pop

I've been on the hunt for the perfect statement earring that packs a punch but does not take away from what I'm wearing. I love love love this earring from Kate Spade. It's the perfect pop of color and sass. I have the gold ones and I would love to have all the other colors too!

Festive in Plaid

There's something about the holidays that makes me want to wear plaid, I find it very festive. I've always loved plaid probably because I grew up in a school uniform. A simple plaid top or a chic blazer are easy pieces to throw on with jeans for a day of Christmas shopping. I love this pair of plaid flats. I would definitely mix these with a printed blouse and skinnies for a dinner out. A classic Burberry scarf is always a good way to go.  This trench coat from Target is so chic and could possibly be mistaken for Burberry. Tis the season for plaid!

That's Right, I Said Target

Can you believe these are all from Target?!? All very stylish and I want every piece. I bought the sparkly flats last week and I love them. I think I have to pick up this pair of green cap toe heels for all of the holiday parties coming up. The best part about Target is grabbing a few cute inexpenisve things when you're there for groceries. It's a win win!

Stocking Stuffers

The best part of stockings is that you can put the most random things in it and it's always a hit! Since I've been married it's so fun to get two stockings and they are filled with completely different things. My parents Santa have always filled my stocking with gift certificates for beauty needs (eye brow wax, mani/pedi, etc.) which I obvi love! At the in-laws house, we get stockings full of fun little necessities (hair ties, mini wine bottles, books) which is also so fun! Here is a small roundup of stuffers worth stocking!

I'm Feeling Arty

So many colors, I can't decide. Can you say #whitegirlproblem? The YSL Arty ring has been at the top of my lust list for quite some time. They are so different and make the perfect statement. I wonder if Santa is reading?!?

Personal Style: Work

Featuring: Banana Republic, Gap, JCrew Factory, JCrew, Kendra Scott, Steve Madden

Here are a few outfits I've worn to work lately. Loose, light tops have been perfect with our less than wintery weather. I really don't get too fussy with my work wardrobe seeing as I spend more time on the floor with kids than I do standing (I love my job, I swear). My leopard clutch from JCrew (center) is my favorite accessory, I love to pair it with everything!

Thanksgiving Decor

All images via Pinterest

Thanksgiving is in three days. Three days people. I should be baking not blogging. This year I offered to bring a few (three) desserts to our big family Thanksgiving Day extravaganza. I'm definitely not good in the kitchen, but baking actually does not stress me out like cooking a meal does. Weird, I know. I will post pics of my finished products at the end of the week. But now it's table time. Here are a few beautiful Thanksgiving tables where I would love to gorge enjoy my meal!

I love the use of quail feathers to make this gorgeous wild arrangement.

This wreath made from dried ears of corn is so cute!

Wallpaper

All images via Pinterest

I love a dramatic wall covered in a chic wallpaper. Yes, I used chic and wallpaper in the same sentence. I love wallpaper when done correctly. As much as I love an entire room covered, I also love the idea of just one focal wall being covered with a very loud print. One day I will have a room with that Scalamandre Zebra wallpaper, probably a very small room (read: bathroom) since it's a bit pricey. Here are a few other beautifully papered rooms!

How amazing is this cowhide chair against that huge paisley wallpaper?

Winter Ready

Apparently winter has decided to make an appearance here in Texas. I use the term winter pretty loosely as it's in the 50's. I'm a huge baby and I HATE being cold. Hate it. Here are a few very cute and stylish pieces that are sure to keep me warm. I love this JCrew coat so much and it comes in a ton of gorgeous colors. How amazing are these earmuffs and matching scarf? SO cozy! To add a little sparkle to an otherwise mute look, I love this pair of embellished gloves. Here's to winter (but I'm ready for summer).

Fab Finds Under $100

So I want each and every piece shown above. All great pieces and all under $100, can't beat that! JCrew knocked it out of the park with their new selection of sweaters. This large bow sweater will be coming home with me. I also love all three pair of Zara shoes. Flat and sparkly! Leopard and a chunky heel! Too good!

In Hot Pursuit: Black Boots

Lately I've found myself drawn to black more and more. It's probably because of all the amazing leather pieces that are popping up everywhere. With that said, I need to add a pair of flat black boots to the rotation. Here are my favorites. I've been obsessed with these Tory Burch boots for the last few seasons. Shocking, I know. I love the simplicity of the JCrew boots with exposed gold zipper and the quilted look on the Vince Camuto boots. My absolute favorite are the Frye riding boots. They are pretty much perfection and are definitely making the Christmas list this year!

Inspiration: Miranda Kerr

Why is Miranda Kerr so hot? And she has the best style.  Lethal combo. Here are three looks that she has worn recently that I love. Hottie Hot Hot!

Two Years

Today is our two year anniversary! I seriously can't believe how fast these last two years have flown by. I could not be more blessed to have this person in my life and by my side everyday. He is the most selfless person and has helped me get so close to achieving my dream. And he's pretty handsome too ;)

Here are a few shots from our wedding day. We were married at the beautiful Robert Carr Chapel on the TCU  campus and our reception was at City Club in downtown Fort Worth. Such a special night that I will never forget. Simple elegance with great friends, family, food, and a badass band. What more can you ask for.

Oh and our band was better than yours. Sorry I'm not sorry ;)

Save vs. Splurge: Faux Fur Throw

I've had this faux fur throw from WestElm on my radar for quite some time. It was definitely going to make the cut for our bedroom makeover since I'm always cold and we have been in desperate need of a throw for the end of the bed. Last week I was wandering through Target and I spotted this almost identical faux fur throw. The differences are so minimal and for $29.99 (yep, that's right) I scooped this baby right up! It's so soft and the quality is right on par with the WestElm version that's $120. I'm going to go ahead and pat myself on the back for this find!

Desk Organization

Something you should know about me is that I absolutely love office supplies. LOVE them. It's a weird  obsession. Shopping for school supplies was my favorite part of back to school especially since wearing uniforms meant no new school clothes. Even now that I'm older and no longer back to school shopping, I still love to have the best supplies at work and at home. Since I'm getting a new desk in the bedroom makeover the husband and I are about to tackle, I need pretty options to keep me organized. I love the metal cutout look from The Container Store (I could seriously spend hours there). I also want  a clear stapler and tape dispenser. Last but not least, I've always loved the look of keeping my pens/pencils/markers in a mint julep cup. So chic! Happy organizing!

Pretty Little Things

I really wanted to title this post Pretty Little Things That Make Me Really Happy. But that's a bit long. I have been drooling over these cap toe pumps from JCrew. They are stunning and pretty sassy. This DVF Minaudière is a fun take on a classic evening piece with an interesting pattern and clasp. Outerwear is slowly making it's way out of the closet which means lots of scarves! I love this dark purple peacoat and I think I need it for the last few football games of the season (Go Frogs). Last but not least, statement jewelry always catches my eye especially when it comes to gorgeous jeweled bracelets. These Kate Spade earrings are available in a bevy of colors. I hope you enjoy these beauties as much as I do!
